Competition Horses Concept

The best things come from great passions.

Competition Horses was founded in June 2015 and is involved in the selection, preparation, and sale of sport horses. It was created by Barbara Pedrazzani, her daughter Federica, and rider Alessandro Calleri. Their paths crossed a few years ago, and their great passion for horses drove them to join forces and combine their skills to create a project that puts them on the front line. This is how they transformed their dream into a reality that today aims to be a partner and skilled and honest reference point for customers looking for a horse for competition.
It is part of the Competition Srl holding company.

When you buy a horse, you hope it takes you to the best competitive destinations…. but does this really happen?

There have been great riders who became “great” thanks to the name that was created by the combination of horse and rider,
but there are also “competitive enthusiasts” who maybe cannot get there with their first horse, not necessarily
because they have the wrong horse but because buying a horse with experience leads you to ask in-depth questions

what am I truly looking for? What will help me meet my needs? What sacrifice do I need to make to reach my goal?
The answer is simple, a horse that is suitable for my skills that will help me grow

The horse is best chosen when it is still young, but then it is the rider’s responsibility to shape it and make it a competition horse.

WHAT WE DO?

SELECTION AND TRAINING OF YOUNG SPORT HORSES

We take care of the selection and training of young horses to be prepared for obstacle jumping competitions. Our work begins with a careful analysis and selection of 4-year-old horses and then proceeds with daily, extended technical work. Our horses participate in national and international competitions and are selected and purchased by a clientele made up of riders, competitive athletes, and horse enthusiasts. Our goal is to help the horse naturally express all of its potential and innate competitive talents in order to satisfy even the most demanding and professionally ambitious clients. The final result, which can be seen in the competitions in which Competition Horses takes part, is the result of sensitive technical and professional work performed with perseverance, commitment, and dedication.

WHY WE DO IT?

WHY HORSES ARE OUR PASSION

We like being with them, looking after them, and watching them grow. We aim to bring out the best in each of them. We want to prepare them for the competitions in which they will take part, respecting the timing of their physical and mental development. Ours is a long, patient work that gives results in the long run. A young horse is very similar to a young student and must be managed with maximum sensitivity and the right combination of instinct, feelings, and authority. At Competition Horses we also strive to be good consultants for our client, the future purchaser. We want to understand their needs and expectations in order to be able to give them the best advice. Our greatest ambition is to have our horses reach the highest levels.

Barbara Pedrazzani

President of Competition Horses

From entrepreneur in the ICT sector to entrepreneur in the sport horse world, because the same approach is needed: professionalism and skill.

After founding and spending a good part of my life running a company that distinguished itself in Italy in the distribution of IT technology, I decided to transform my great passion for horses into a new entrepreneurial challenge.
I lived for 25 years in Milan where it wasn’t possible to be surrounded by horses, but my passion was so strong, even as a child, that my parents planned vacations in areas where it was possible to go horseback riding.
I loved the sense of freedom that this extraordinary animal gave me, the elegance of its movements, the pride and elasticity of its body, and the great energy it emanated.
This passion was passed on to my daughter Federica, who has been a rider since she was 6 years old. We have ridden many kilometers together, participating in numerous races and we have met different companies and many professionals in the industry.
Today, Competition Horses is truly a dream that has become reality. It is a dream that would not have been possible if I hadn’t crossed paths with Alessandro, who encouraged me to begin a journey in a world that I only knew as a great enthusiast but not as an entrepreneur.

Alessandro Calleri

Instructor and Rider for Competition Horses.

Instructor and Rider for 15 years He loves working with young horses because they are very similar to young pupils. You have to relate to them using a lot of sensitivity and instinct, paying attention to your feelings.

As a child I lived near a company in Sanremo where I saw these stupendous animals every day. I was attracted to them but also a little afraid, until I sat on my first pony at age 7 and started competing at age 12. Once I finished high school, I sought to make this sport my work.
After I completed the instructor’s course in 2001-2002, my first job was at the FLB Stables in Tuscany where I worked as a technician and rider for four years. I then worked with Juan Carlos Garcia at G.E.S.E. (Gruppo Emiliano Sport Equestri) in Bologna for five years. Years later I was the Sports Director at Horse Riviera Resort in Cattolica. In 2015, after meeting Barbara and Federica, the idea of Competition Horses was born.
Creating a company that focuses on young horses means choosing a path that is neither simple nor quick, but it is definitely one that can give the most satisfaction. A horse is chosen well when it is still very young, but then you must raise it. Our goal is to select young horses, that haven’t worked with others, and prepare them to become true competition horses.

“I am very proud and lucky to be able to be part of this company.”

It has definitely contributed to increasing my passion for horses and this fantastic environment. Being part of an attentive and professional team allowed me to get to know truly interesting facets of this sport… For me, riding is something extraordinary. It teaches me to have patience and love what I’m doing, even in life!”
